February, 2012, and Beyond!

*     Come and join us for a fun Fat Monday (Lune Gras) potluck party at Nick Foster and Candace Kuby's house. There will be great food and fun games.  Nick and Candace will provide red beans and rice.

    Directions are as follows: Take Chapel Hill west towards Scott Blvd.  Cross over Scott and go up the hill.  (If you are coming down from Broadway/Scott south you'll turn right onto Chapel Hill; if you are coming up from Nifong/Scott - turn left onto Chapel Hill).  Take the second left onto Limestone.  Go through one stop sign.  Take the second left onto Ruby Oaks Ct. There will be a sign up sheet on sunday at church or you could e-mail     Sharmini at sharminirogers@gmail.com and let her know what you will be bringing (loosely Cajun theme).

*     Bethel Baptist and RBCC are coming together on Ash Wednesday (Feb. 22nd) at Rock Bridge CC for soup at 5:30, followed by imposition of ashes and worship featuring Taize music at 6 p.m.

*    Rock Bridge CC and Bethel Baptist are also doing a Lenten book study together at Bethel Baptist (Bethel and Old Plank Rd).  The book is Walter Wink's The Powers that Be.  There will be soup at 5:30, followed by the book discussion at 6 p.m.

 *   Voluntary Action Center's (VAC) annual trivia night is coming up on Tuesday, March 6th.  Doors open at 5pm.  Let's get a team or two together from RBCC (8 people per team or table).  Appetizers from D. Rowe's, and other snacks, will be provided throughout the evening! Beer and soda will be provided and guests are free to bring their own beverages. Prizes will be awarded for winning team and best decorated table. It is a great way to have fun, while supporting a great, local non-profit.  See Candace Kuby (crkuby@yahoo.com) or sign up at church if you are interested or for more details - we need people of all ages with a range of expertise!

  *  RBCC has two teams entered into Olivet Christian Church's trivia night Feb. 25th (benefiting Relay for Life).  At last count, we still had two available spots.  Contact Kathy Brown if you are interested in participating.  The cost is $12.50 per person.

  *  AVAILABLE SPACE TO RENT.  RBCC has storage space in the lower level that is available for rent.  If you or someone you know needs a dry secure place for storage, contact Kathy Brown at 449-5303 or 289-8960.

  *  The Tuesday afternoon Bible Study group will not be meeting until after Lent.  The morning group meets on Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m.

    Volunteers Needed for the Wardrobe:  RBCC is scheduled to staff the Wardrobe on Wednesday, February 29th.  Shifts are from 11a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.  If you can volunteer, contact Tish at teenlibrz@gmail.com.

 *   Loaves and Fishes is getting a new home!  They will be moving to Wilkes Blvd. United Methodist Church, 700 Wilkes Blvd.  The move will probably take place some time around March 1st and the new space will provide a much larger serving area as well as handicap accessible facilities.  There will be an orientation for Loaves and Fishes workers at 2 p.m. at the new location this Saturday, Feb. 18th.  We want to have at least one person from every team at this. 

  *  Support RBCC through getting and using an eScrips community card.  You can sign up at this website:  http://www.escrip.com/program/3ways/index.jsp.  NOTE:  You can also register your debit or credit card on the eScrips site and earn money for RBCC at many other places (e.g. restaurants, stores, etc.).  All the information is available on the eScrips website.
