SPECIAL OFFERING

The Easter Special Offering will be collected Sundays March 20 and March 27. This is an over-and-above offering that:

  • Drives mission and ministry throughout the world;
  • Provides cost-effective services to our congregation that we otherwise might not be able to obtain (e.g. working with Church Extension on the loan for our new building);
  • Allows Disciples to unite in a common witness that demonstrates true community, deep Christian spirituality and a passion for justice.

Please give generously to support our denomination

THANKS FOR THE DRAMA

Our gospel stories from John this Lent have come alive for us thanks to the willingness of the following folks to join our drama troupe: Larry Brown as Jesus every week (that’s a lot of lines to remember!), Amy Jones as the Samaritan woman at the well and Janice Friesen as another Samaritan, Maureen Dickmann as the person born blind, Steve Miller and Bruce Troetschel as disciples, Cindy Heinz and Alisa Troetschel as neighbors, Diane Suhler and Steve Friesen as Nicodemus and the blind person’s parents, Roger Carter and Nancy Weatherwax as Pharisees, Kathy Brown as Martha, Ruth Carter as Mary, Patrick Buckalew as Lazarus and Rich Frieden as Thomas, and all the others who have been part of the crowds.

WEEK OF COMPASSION

Because of the unprecedented outpouring of support (as of Tuesday, March 1, $1,656,161 had been recorded for tsunami relief and recovery!), WOC has surpassed its goal of providing $500,000 for initial and ongoing relief efforts. Last week a grant of $100,000 was made to Church World Service (CWS) for relief/ recovery efforts in Indonesia, and another $100,000 was sent to Action by Churches Together for efforts in India, Somalia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. WOC continues to work with the Southern Asia Office in Global Ministries to assist efforts of partners in Sri Lanka, Thailand and India. Grants totaling $131,300 were made to church partners in those countries for rebuilding homes, schools, and churches; livelihood renewal; and trauma counseling. Altogether, WOC has provided $708,800 for tsunami relief/recovery. WOC is working closely with CWS, the Southern Asia Office and other partners to utilize resources in the most helpful and responsible manner possible.

Our Week of Compassion offering to date is $1,062. You can continue to give to WOC throughout the year. Help RBCC meet its goal of $2,000 for the year.
