LEARN ABOUT LABYRINTHS Rev. Kim Ryan and Prof. Elaine Lawless have graciously offered to share their extensive knowledge and experience of labyrinths with us in a program to be held Sunday, Jan. 30th, beginning about 1 p.m. Kim (the associate minister at Broadway Christian Church) and Elaine (who teaches at MU in the English, Religious Studies and Women’s Studies departments) have traveled to France, where they walked the labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral, and to San Francisco where they attended a workshop at Grace Cathedral led by Rev. Lauren Artress who helped start the revitalized interest in labyrinths in the early 1990’s. We will learn some history and background as well as have some practice walking our labyrinth. There will be time for questions and discussion during our hour-and-a-half session. Please sign up by Jan. 23rd (there will be a sign-up sheet on the table by the entry way) if you plan to participate, so we can plan for a light lunch to be served after worship on the 30th. Sunday School News: Teen Class: This class is currently studying the book of Revelation, HYMNALS: A total of 61 new hymnals were purchased with contributions for that purpose. We’re saving them until we move into the new building. CHRISTMAS AT ROCK BRIDGE Thanks to Janice Friesen and Letitia DenHartog for overseeing the wonderful Christmas pageant Night of the Stars and to all who participated: Tabitha DenHartog, John Heinz, Jordan, Ann, Molly and James Carter, Dalanya Rogers, Lou Dale, Gaye, Debo and Alex Glay, Elizabeth and Nick Suhler, Eric Wetz, and Drew Capps. Thanks to the 29 Rock Bridgers and friends who went caroling at the Lenoir Health Care Center (it was TOO COLD to carol outside!!!), making special visits to Beth Pratt, Mildred Whitlow, and Winnie Gordon (unfortunately Jeanette Palmer was indisposed) as well as singing for a large group that included Evelyn Penn and Dorothy Palmer. Everyone enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies back at the church afterwards. |
